According to the latest survey report of the renowned economist Mr. Swaminathan, S. Ayier it is apparent that the state of Punjab is moving towards financial bankruptcy. If this situation persists and there are no quick measures taken the state is slated to be doomed. It is pertinent to mention here that during the last six years under the rule of the Akali BJP alliance in the state Punjab, has fallen 6 places to number 12 place in over all Economic Freedom Index of 20 big states. The situation is so grim that there is currently no hope or recovery in sight.
We in the Congress have been continually bringing the state of affairs to the notice of the Akali government which is the duty of every Indian politican.
If the things continue as they are in Punjab and there is no Urban or Rural development in the state, Punjab in the next 4 years will slide 6 more places further down. The claims of the Akali govt that the state will be power surplus in the near future is laughable. According to reports there is a dearth of investments in Punjab due to power shortages in the state. This further pulls down all round development and financial well being of the state.
